Magical Unicorn Shaker Card!

Hello Everyone,

It's been a while since my last post. I've been busy getting ready for a November craft show. But here is a super fun card I made for a friend. I've recently been introduced to My Favourite Things! Oh boy, it's like a creativity overload. I purchased the Magical Unicorns stamp and matching die set and couldn't wait to make a card using them.

For this card, I started by inking a cloud background using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Dusty Concord and Fired Brick. Then I added X-Press It high tack foam mounting tape around the circle and around the white cardstock on the top. I added some glitter and some stars and little pink sequins to the middle to make the shaker card. I used Bazzill Basics paper in Lupin and added a cute cardstock paper from Doodlebug Designs called Sweet Summer. To make the clouds, I cut out the clouds using the die from the Magical Unicorns and coloured them with my Snow Marker. When you let it dry and heat it with your embossing gun it makes it bubble up. I coloured the Unicorn using Prismacolor Premier pencil crayons and added Mod Podge gloss over the image.

Choo Choo Here Comes Thomas and Friends

It's been a crazy week so there haven't been any posts, but that's what back to school can do! I've been busy working on a few cards, but I wanted to show this card today. I made this card for a very special boy who's turning 5. He absolutely loves trains so I wanted to make this as "trainy" as I could.

To make this Thomas and Friends card, I used a blue Recollections paper for the 5x7 card base. I used Bazzill Basics Blackbird for the first layer on the blue. I used a fun silver texture paper from Recollections at Michaels to add a metal colour to the card. I had this fun polka dot paper with the colours of the trains in Thomas and Friends and thought it would be great for this card. I handmade the tracks using the metallic paper and kraft cardstock. I stained the edges of the track with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I found this great Thomas and Friends png file. If you don't know what a PNG file is, it's a picture that has a transparent background. So you can use it on anything and all you see is the image. No white background to cut out. I blocked out the Thomas and Friends that was originally in the cloud and added my own greeting.

Peek a Boo Christmas Card

Hello Everyone,

For my card today I tried something new for me. I've been watching the amazing videos from Jennifer McGuire Inks on YouTube. She has so many great tip and techniques as well as card making videos to watch. I fell in love with her Peek a Boo card and thought it would make a great Christmas card to send to friends and family.

For this card, I used red and kraft cardstock from Recollections by Michaels. It's just a basic cardstock in a package of 50 sheets. I used the "Happy Pawlidays" stamp set from My Favourite Things (which incidentally has become my new favourite thing!). I coloured my images using Prismacolor Premier pencil crayons.

I stamped the sentiments that came with this stamp set and added Christmas lights to the front and back of this card. So what's the peek a boo part of this card? See the video below for the surprise to this card.

Sun, Sand and Surf....What Better Way to say Happy Birthday!

My card today is a pop-up box card. I really love these cards because they lay flat so they can easily go into a regular envelope and secondly, what a great surprise to pull this card out and watch it fold down to reveal all the detail put into the card.

The theme for this Birthday card is a beach theme because the recipient of this card loves to travel to warm destinations. For this card, I used Bazzill Basics cardstock in Turquoise Mist and Kraft. I found this really amazing sand printed paper at Michaels, along with several different stickers from Recollections and Jolee's Boutique. I also used a special pattern paper for the bottom section of the card that looks like seaweed and different underwater plants.

I used my Cricut to cut out the 60 for my front greeting and printed the Happy and Birthday using Adobe Illustrator. That is my go-to program for all my greetings unless I have a stamp I really like.

The dimensions of this card when folded flat is 5x7. Each panel is 2.5in wide. There is lots of space to make all kinds of details on this card.

More Tin Pin Fun with Surf Owl!

Happy Hump Day everyone!!

For today's card, I used the stamp set as my previous owl card, only this guy is riding a surfboard! I really enjoy making these fun tin pin cards. The little tin pin adds such a cool touch to your cards.

For this card, I used Bazzill Basics paper in Tropical and Mocha Divine. The patterned paper is from Doodlebug Designs "Sweet Summer" paper pack. I cut out the front piece with a die from Spellbinders and used Memento ink to create the sunset. The ocean waves were created by using a piece of cardstock cut out in waves and stamped with Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers.

I don't normally use the phrase that comes with stamps set, but I really liked this one. I cut out a circle on the Tropical blue cardstock using a Spellbinders circle die and stamped the wording on to a white piece of cardstock. I traced the inner circle from my die onto the white cardstock and cut it out with scissors. I added foam adhesive squares on the back and added it to my card.

I carefully cut out the owl on the surfboard and adhered him to my sunset background. I added some gloss Mod Podge and then hot glued on the tin pin face. The owl is coloured in with Prismacolor Premier pencil crayons.

Crazy Cute Cards by Cricut

Hello everyone,

Today's card is one from the Cricut cartridge Crazy Cute Cards. This cartridge has several cards that link together or are layered to give the cards depth. There are so many cute cards to make such as a toaster with two slices of bread that remove to write a message on or a salt and pepper shaker. The card I chose was a floral heart card called Mother's Day Bouquet. It's such a pretty card, it doesn't have to be just for Mother's Day.

For this card, I used different scraps of my Bazzill Basics cardstock. That's the best part about using your Cricut, most of the cuts can use cardstock scraps. There are instructions on how to assemble this card here, https://help.cricut.com/cartridge-library. You can download any book that comes with any cartridge through this link.

The outside flower connects to keep the card closed. Once you open the card there is a heart-shaped card that removes to write or stamp your message. There is a little pocket to slip your message in. The Cricut also cuts out a matching envelope that perfectly fits your card.

If you have a Cricut I really recommend this cartridge. I've used this before to make a really cute Jukebox card. So check out the cartridge on the Cricut website or if you have Design Space for Cricut this cartridge is free with your monthly subscription.

Shake Shake Shake! It's a Fairy Shaker Card!

Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Todays card is a shaker card. These cards are so fun to make and to give. They are surprisingly easy to make. I was given some instructions from my local scrapbook supply store and I watched a few YouTube videos before I started making these cards. So if you're not familiar, check out YouTube for some instructional videos. I recommend Jennifer McGuire Ink. 

To make this card you will need some foam tape, I used X-Press It foam tape. I used Bazzill Basics paper in Sour Apple and Pollen. The popsicle paper is from a paper pack by Doodlebug design Inc. I cut out a banner from a die set by Spellbinders. The inside stamp is from Pink Cat Studios, unfortunatly you can't get this digital stamp from their site anymore. I used Prismacolor Premier pencil crayons to colour in the Fairy. 

I purchased an assortment of sequins to use in shaker cards. Because the card is small, I used only small sequins. I also added a drop of Glossy Accents to the lollypop the little fairy is holding to give it some dimension. I felt it needed a little something extra, so I added the gems to go around the circle. This card is so cute, my daughter can't wait to give it to her friend for her birthday.

Art Impressions Golden Oldies Norm!

Hello! Happy Saturday. Today I am showing a card I made for a birthday. It features Art Impressions Norm. This grumpy looking fellow is the perfect character for an "old mans" birthday!

I really enjoy this line of stamps because they all have their own personality. I used Kraft cardstock for the card. I used my Cricut to cut out the card and write the verse on the front. I used Bazzill Basics - Evening Surf cardstock for the bottom layer and Authentique cardstock from a paper pad I have called Explore. I cut out the oval using my Spellbinders oval die set and then stamped the Norm image on. He is coloured in using Prismacolor Premier pencil crayons. I added ribbon and gold brads to the corners.

Tin Pin Fun!

Hi Everyone, 

I found these super cute cling mounted rubber stamps and flat back "tin pin" embellishments at my local craft store and just had to buy them. They are made by Darcie's Heart & Home. There are so many beautiful little people, animals and food that they are sure to get your creativity flowing!

For my Santa card, I used Prismacolor Premier pencil crayons. I prefer to use these for several reasons. They can be used on any paper, they blend really well, I find I have more control when colouring with them and they are cheaper than Copic markers. I used Bazzill Basics classic red and limeade. I used Bella Blvd "Santas on the Move" paper and the Darcie's Heart & Home cling mounted stamp set "Happy Holla Days". I also used the Darcie's Heart & Home matching "tin pin" embellishment. 

This is such a cute card to give to someone, simply because it's one of a kind. I also purchased the "Best Wave" set with little owls and the matching "tin pin" embellishments. It was such a fun card to make. I also found this super summery paper pack at my local scrapbook store, from Doodlebug Design Inc. called Sweet Summer.

Oh Christmas Tree....How Beautiful You Are!

I am super excited to share this card with you. I recently purchased two new dies from Karen Burniston to make Christmas Cards with. This is the pop up Christmas Tree card. The die comes with everything you need to make this fantastic card. 

I used Avocado Green Bazzill basics paper to make the 5 x 7 card. Then I used Classic Red Bazzill basics card stock to make an edge. I used Christmas paper from a paper pad I got from Michaels, and trimmed the edges with K&Company Adhesive Borders. I had a package of Christmas present stickers from Jolee's Boutique and used them to give the tree a little extra something. 

Instead of cutting out the tabs to hold the tree on the card itself, I punched out a tree skirt with the classic red cardstock and ran it through my Spellbinders with the tab die that came with the tree die set. I added some gems to the tree instead of the paper circles that came with the die set. 

For the front of the card I kept it simple, continuing the paper I used on the inside and added some additional presents to the outside. This card is simple and beautiful. Want to buy the die set? Christmas is in the air with the Karen Burniston Flower Pot Pop Up Die!

The past few days I have been working on more Christmas cards and was inspired to use my pop up die from Karen Burniston. I bought this die back in May to make Mothers Day cards. What Mom wouldn't love a beautiful card filled with flowers? Well, for Christmas I thought Poinsettia!

This versatile die comes with everything you need to make a pop up flower pot. There are flower dies included and a leaf die as well. But when it comes to flowers, I really love the Heartfelt Creations flower stamps and dies. For this card I used the Sparkling Poinsettia stamp and die set. When it comes to colouring, I know a lot of card makers prefer to use Copic markers or some other sort of blending marker. But I prefer to use Prismacolour Premier pencil crayons. These are a softer pencil crayon and allows you to blend colours beautifully. I find that they give you more control in your technique and they don't bleed like a marker does. 

The paper I used was a combination of Bazzill Basics and Echo Park Paper Co. I just loved the Echo Park Christmas paper. It's so bright and cheerful. Perfect for any card!
