A9 Flower Card - Craft Roulette!

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome! My card for you today was created while playing along with Craft Roulette! The parameters this week were:

Project: A9 Card

Colors: Florist Shop

Element: Birthday

Random: Something from your "mesk"

I've never made an A9 card before and this is a huge card! 5.5 x 8.5. So I needed some big to fill all that space. It also worked out perfectly because I had a card order for three birthday cards and I had one more to make. I went digging through my stamps and dies and came across a die set from Spellbinders. It was one from the Large Die of the Month Club called Colorful Expressions Blooms. This die set was perfect because the flowers are really big!

For this card, I started by using a piece of smooth heavy weight cardstock 8.5 x 11 and scoring it at 5.5. I then cut a piece of smooth black cardstock 1/16" smaller than my card base. I cut another piece of smooth white heavy weight cardstock 1/16" smaller than my black cardstock and used Spellbinders Argyle Plaid 3D Embossing Folder to give my background some texture.

I then started die cutting my flowers out. I used scrap coloured paper I keep just for this purpose. You never know when you might need a little bit of cardstock right? Once I had a bunch of flowers die cut out, I started putting them all together. I used my Copic markers to give them some dimension.

I slowly started arranging them when I wanted, gluing them down I as went. Once I had everything in place, I die cut the Birthday sentiment using Karen Burniston's Happy Birthday sentiment die. I die cut it twice from black cardstock and once from glitter pink cardstock. Then glued them together. This helped to make my sentiment pop.

I then cut a strip of black cardstock and stamped the "hugs and kisses" sentiment using MFT - Bitty Birthday Wishes stamp set, VersaMark Ink and white embossing powder. I added this underneath my birthday die cut.

Lastly, I used some gems I keep on my "mesk" (and yes right now it's a big mesk lol) and glued them on to the front of my card.

I love how this card turned out and I also loved that I got a chance to use these enormous and beautiful flower dies!! Thank you so much for stopping by today. Below is a list of the supplies I used to make this card. Some supplies are no longer available unfortunately. Happy Crafting!
