Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge - Holiday House

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome to another Designer Challenge! I just love Designer Challenge each month and this month was extra exciting because we were challenged to create a holiday house. I had a bit of a hard time deciding which holiday I wanted to use, I really love Christmas, I love Thanksgiving (but that was a hard one to create a house for) and I love Easter. But I love Halloween and all the spooky fun to be had, so I chose to create a Halloween House!

Let me first say, creating this was SO MUCH FUN!!! All the die cuts, all the coloring, all the ideas that kept coming...I was exhausted by the time I was done but the end result was worth it!

For this card, I started with an A2 sized card base using smooth heavy weight black cardstock. I cut two rectangles to fit slightly smaller inside the card, the got out my Distress Oxide inks to create the ground piece and background piece. I used a moon stencil I got once which is a Tim Holtz stencil. I used Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness and Black Soot to create my ground and backgrounds. For the moon I used Pumice Stone to create the areas on the moon.

Then I started die cutting. For this card, I used the following die sets from Karen Burniston:

1. House and Fence Pop-Up

2. Halloween Scene

3. Halloween Elements

4. Haunted Tiny House Add-Ons

5. Skeleton and Bat

I die cut everything from smooth white cardstock and colored it with Copic markers. I know that seems like so much work (and it really is) but the final result is worth it. I figured out where I wanted everything before I started gluing.

I added the pop-up base to the house and then began gluing my pieces down. I added an area to sign the card and stamped a sentiment using Lawn Fawn's Costume Party stamp set.

For the front of my card, I kept with the same theme, including how I created the background.

I did add costumes to my skeletons using Tiny Accessories 1 to create a pirate and a fancy gentleman.

I stamped the "Trick or Treat" sentiment on the front using VersaMark ink and white embossing powder. Then I glued down all my images where I wanted them.

I love love love how this card turned out. This is one of my favorites and I am actually going to send this to one of my best friends because Halloween is her favorite holiday!!

Thank you so much for stopping by for Designer Challenge! Happy Crafting!
