Hello and welcome! Today's card features Karen Burniston's Holiday House die set. This die set gives you everything you need to create a festive Christmas themed house or you can even use it to make a spooky Halloween house! For this card, I used it to make a light up Christmas card.
I started with an A2 sized card base using red cardstock. I die cut out a rectangle from heavy weight smooth white cardstock and created the dark blue sky background with Distress Oxide inks in Chipped Sapphire and Salty Ocean.
I die cut a snow hill from the same heavy weight smooth white cardstock. I cut out the pieces of the Holiday House from various scraps of cardstock. For the brick work, I ran the section through the embossing plates and then cut it out. I used my cool gray Copic Markers to add the brick details. For the main house, I had a really hard time deciding what to do. I tried wood paneling, red brick using a stencil but it just didn't seem to work. So I used Distress Oxide ink in Pumice Stone and added flecks of white and black water color paint watered down. I dabbed it with kleenex and it give the main house a very cool stone look.
I die cut the windows using dark brown cardstock and heavy weight vellum. I traced the shape of the windows on to the main house using a pencil and cut the rectangle shape out with an exacto knife. The dies do not allow you to cut out the window, so in order to make this light up, I had to cut it out by hand. I glued all the pieces together and set it aside.
I used Chibitronics yellow lights to make the windows glow. I added foam tape to the back of the snow hill to hide the electronic parts.
For the sentiment on the front, I used my Glimmer Hot Foil machine and added the sentiment with gold hot foil. The last step was to add the snow in the background and I did that using a size 10 Gelly Pen.
Thank you so much for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
