Hello Crafty Friends and welcome! It's time for our monthly Designer Challenge and our theme this month was Lake or Ocean. I felt like I had done several ocean themed cards, so I decided to go with a lake themed card this time. For this card, I used the Boat Pop-Up along with the new Fishing Boat Add-Ons to create this tranquil scene.
To start, I created my card base using Lawn Fawn Ground Coffee card stock. I created an A2 sized card base and added an additional rectangle to it so it became three parts.
I then created my backgrounds. For the lake, I used Distress Oxide Ink in Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean. I also used my MFT - Perfect Pool Water Stencil. For the sky background, I used Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers and MFT - Clouds stencil.
I die cut the tree line background using Karen Burniston's Long Nature Edges and smooth white cardstock. I then used Simon Says Stamps Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Sprout, Fairway and Field to create the grass hill. Then I used Copic markers to color in the trees. I glued this to my background using Lineco Neutral pH adhesive in a fine tip bottle.
I then created my boat using a light weight kraft cardstock. I added the Fishing Boat Add-Ons following along with Sandy Dillers fantastic tutorial on YouTube, which you can find by click
here.
I colored in the fish with Copic markers as well as the fishing hat. I die cut the motor from a mirror silver cardstock as well as the bucket. I also die cut the fishing pole and colored that in as well.
I added the backgrounds to my card base, then added the boat. Once I had that in place, I used some scrap cardstock to create a dock in front of the boat.
I then added some more fish and the cattails border which is from Lawn Fawn to the bottom of my card.
I stamped the sentiments to my card using Karen Burniston's Fishing Phrases clear sentiment stamp set and Pink Fresh Studios black ink.
I kept the front of my card very simple, adding some patterned paper, some circles and stamping another sentiment, this time using Karen Burniston's Sail Away Sentiments.
This will be a perfect card Fathers Day card for any man who loves to camp or fish.
