Karen Burniston Designer Challenge February 2024 - Oh My Hearts!

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome! It's Designer Challenge time and for our February 2024 challenge, we were asked to create a card with hearts!!! For my card, I used the Photo Collage Pop-Up to create this Valentines Day card.

For this card, I started with an A2 sized card base using a heavy weight smooth white cardstock. I then dug through my stash and found this great heart patterned paper.

I die cut the pop-up mechanism from a pink cardstock and glued it into my card. Then I die cut all my photo frames. I used a smooth white cardstock for the background and then two different colors of red cardstock for the polaroid frame. I used a heart stencil and Distress Oxide ink in Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry to create the heart backgrounds.

I then dug out a bunch of my animal dies and started creating the animals for the photos. I used the following animals dies for this card:

  • Monkey and Lion
  • Safari Animals
  • Chicken, Pig and Lamb
  • Feathered Animals
  • Spring Animals
  • Cat and Dog
I also added some accessories to the animals, such as heart glasses and random hearts that came with different die sets.

I die cut a white heart using the Hearts - Crosshatch dies for a place to sign the card. I also used Word Set 9 - Love to add the Love You and XOXO sentiments.

For the front of this card, I continued the same theme as the inside, using the larger hearts from the Hearts - Crosshatch die set and adding the two extra photo frames.

I also added the push pins and clips from the Photo Collage Pop-Up, making them more Valentines Day appropriate by adding hearts and making the push pins pink.

How adorable are those animals? It took an entire day of creating the animals because I color them all using Copic markers, but it was well worth the time. I also added some glitter gel and Glossy Accents to some items to give them some dimension.

Thank you so much for stopping by and Happy Crafting!!
