Sending Sunshine Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome!! My card for you today was created using Karen Burniston's Spinner Square Pop-Up. I made this card for Craft Roulette. Here were the parameters for this weeks card:

  • Project - Good Tidings
  • Color - Summer Colors
  • Element - Mechanics/Mechanical
  • Random - Tie Closed

For my card, I started with an A2 sized card base using Neenah Classic Crest smooth white cardstock. I found this summer themed patterned paper from Echo Park called "My Favorite Summer".

I used Karen Burniston's Spinner Square Pop-Up to create this summer themed birthday card. I added the patterned paper to the front and inside panel, then die cut the square window using the dies that come with the set. I also die cut two window frames using the largest and second largest square dies in the set. I chose a bright sunny yellow colored cardstock for this.

I added the palm tree to the front of the card that came from the Tiny House Beach Bar Add-On die set. I die cut this from smooth white cardstock and colored it in with Copic markers.

I then used Karen Burniston's Beach Borders and Tropical Elements to create the sea shells and crab. I added the sentiment "Sending Sunshine" using Word Set 6 - Summer and Word Set 14 - Hugs. I die cut this from a shiny black cardstock.

For the inside of my card, I added the surf board from the newest release die set called "Beach Elements". I also used the Beach Charms to create the beach ball. I die cut the surf board using scrap cardstock I had in blue and green. I die cut the beach ball from smooth white cardstock and colored it in with Copic markers.

I added the pop-up mechanism to the inside of the card (to see how to do this click here to view Karen Burniston's Instructional video on YouTube) using smooth white cardstock. Then I die cut the large square and the rectangle that spins out when you open the card. I also used smooth white cardstock for both of these pieces.

I then created the scene for the largest square. I added sand, another palm tree and then I added my little animals. These are two of the characters from Karen Burniston's Safari Animals die set. I die cut them twice and created swim suits from the second die cuts. I also die cut a crab from her Sea Animals die set.

I colored all my die cuts in using Copic markers. Then added some detail to them with a white Gelly Pen in size 10. I added the speech bubble to the top and stamped the "Happy Birthday Let's Celebrate" using Lawn Fawns Speech Bubble sentiment stamp. Lastly I added a square to have a place to sign the card.

I just love creating these animals and adding clothes to them. This card is just so bright and cheerful and will make for a great birthday card for someone special! Thank you so much for stopping by today. To see the complete list of everything I used today, see below. Happy Crafting!
